Francesco Pedraglio, Object and disintegration (description of a river), performance in collaboration with Falke Pisano and Paul Becker, Enpap, Consonni, Bilbao 2012

Through short-stories, performances, videos and installations, Francesco Pedraglio’s work employs the mechanics of storytelling to reflect on the intricate relationship between the construction of subjectivity and the perception of objects. Pedraglio has been invited by de_sitio to further develop his research on certain narrative patterns of film-noir and how they can work as straightforward templates to talk about the relationship between storytelling and objecthood. During his time in Mexico Pedraglio will develop a series of performative actions.

As a parenthesis and a side development to the video work he has been producing during his six-week residency in Mexico, Pedraglio will present "Seriously now... laugh!", a performance focusing on the interdependency between storytelling and the perception of objects. Borrowing from both personal anecdotes and a few genericfilm-noir's repertoires the artist has been using for his video work, the live event will center directly on Pedraglio's preoccupation with the mechanics of storytelling in relation to both writing and object making.

The performance will be in English.

Based in London, Francesco Pedraglio is an artist, writer and co-founder of FormContent. He has performed most recently at Joanna Kamm Gallery, Transmission Gallery, Kunsthalle Basel, Hayward Gallery, Auto Italia South East, The National Portrait Gallery, ICA, Wysing Arts Centre and Hollybush Gardens, among others.
